Neck Pain

Neck pain is so common and starts for a variety of reasons

Neck pain causes

There has been a lot of talk in newspapers about “text neck” and this is certainly a cause of pain in the neck.  However, there is still more of a problem with a forward head posture.  This is where the chin pokes forward.  Forward head posture is often seen in computer users as their low back flattens and their head slides forward.  At Pure Physio Albany we can assess whether these postures are causing symptoms and then help remedy them.

The other common neck pain cause is trauma.  This is often when someone is thrown about and the weight of the head flips around.  This is known as a whiplash injury.

It’s important for your physiotherapist to consider your original posture.  Your posture will create different areas of pressure, tightness and weakness.  In turn, this will cause trauma to produce different problems when trauma happens.

Neck pain: what’s the solution?

Physiotherapy has a huge range of options for treatment of neck pain.  The key step is to check what is the cause of pain.  This could be muscle, ligament, lack of stability or the joints which guide movement in the neck.

Treatment can then be directed most effectively to target the source of symptoms appropriately.  This will give you the speedy recovery you desire

With appropriate treatment even really intense pain can be reduced very quickly.  If you need treatment call our Albany physio on 09 4481277 (on a mobile push the blue phone sign) or click here to book online
